About Sempre
Sempre sustains a direction over an extended passage. Sempre forte means "stay loud throughout"; sempre legato means "maintain smooth connections between every note"; sempre con pedale means "keep the sustain pedal depressed." It overrides the tendency to let a marking fade as the passage progresses.
